The three different posters represent different solutions to visually communicate a concept. The Stranger Than Paradise poster is a movie poster inspired by a theme throughout the novel. The concept is to depict the American flag through the eyes of a foreigner based on observations made throughout the movie. The Big Lebowski poster represents the identity of three main characters through the shape of their glasses. The Donald Margulies poster is promoting an event on photojournalism and war.
